Cellophane Tape Day

Have you ever seen the Photoseries of Taped Faces? They are so funny… make sure you check them out before looking at our version…

Since it was Cellophane Tape Day, Auntie Na and I, thought we’d celebrate with some fancy… ugly faces… Jeffrey helped!

DSC_8726

I’m pretty embarrassed to post this picture but boy did we laugh while we were doing this!!

DSC_8728

It wasn’t quite the same impressive effect but Jeffrey was the best turnout I think!

DSC_8719

It’s amazing how a little tape can alter an appearance…

DSC_8722

Look at those ears and eyebrows! We stuck the tape to our pants first so it was less sticky when we pulled it off… he enjoyed himself!

DSC_8720

After all that fun we had to take the boys to their 1-year and 3-year doctor checkups… poor Jack had to get shots!

0527151135

I wish Doctor offices had NO TOYS! Lets let every sick kid in the area play with the same toys… I did everything I could to keep him away but he did not want to stay in my lap… so I finally succumbed… sigh…

0527151135b

Later we went to the Farmer’s Market and this is Jack’s, “I don’t want to be in here anymore” face.

0527151720

It was also Old-Time Player Piano Day so we watched this clip from the old movie “Summer Magic.”

National Blueberry Cheesecake Day

One of my favorite places to shop is T.J. Maxx – they have the best deals. I found two thick plastic art jackets for the boys to paint in… definitely a great buy! DSC_8654

While Jeffrey painted Boo the Bear, I made an awesome salad. Baby Lettuce, Salmon, Fried Egg and Avocado… mmm…

DSC_8656

After such a yummy meal I had a brilliant idea… put the teepee over the ball pit!

DSC_8671

The boys could frolic around as much as they want and for the most part the balls stayed trapped inside without too much spillage…

DSC_8677

Unless they throw them out…

DSC_8683

Like these little Turkeys…

DSC_8678

While they played I made a small cheesecake for National Blueberry Cheesecake Day. It wasn’t as thick as I was expecting…

DSC_8686

Jack wasn’t sure what to think… thanks bud…

DSC_8697

Ok he likes it…

DSC_8701

Daddy came home for a bit before leaving for Boy Scouts and Jack did some pre-bedtime climbing… what a good daddy!

Memorial Day

After a very busy weekend filled with birthday celebrations, we were looking forward to a relaxed Monday… it was wonderful Caleb had the day off!

My mom, sister and brother stayed the night…so Caleb and I could go on an early morning date… I really am not a fan of this picture of me… ha!

0525150856a

I’m so thankful for this wonderful man I married!

0525150855a

Our plan was to go out for coffee but since it was Memorial Day the coffee shop opened later than usual. So we decided to pretend like we were two old men and played chess in the park while we were waiting… yes we are the type of people to carry chess around with us…

0525150854

As soon as we sat down the ducks and geese really noticed us…

0525150849

They stopped what they were doing and started to come closer…

0525150851

And one even closer (all the way up the stairs)… before they gave up and went on their way…

0525150850

Caleb beat me… not easily… I was doing pretty good until I let him get my Queen… sigh…

So we went back to the coffee shop and shared a Lavender Latte… I was very hesitant but tried it for Caleb and it was so worth it! Mmm… I want another!

0525151005

I tried to get a good shot… sorry!

0525151005a

Once we returned home we bundled up the boys and headed to our local cemetery to honor the Fallen for Memorial Day.

0525151212

I’m always thankful for the men and women who have fought for our country but actually going to this ceremony really put things in perspective.

0525151224

I had never gone to a Memorial Day service before but I will definitely continue to take my children so we can all remember the people who have and will lose their lives so we can have freedom!

0525151223

After an easy afternoon and evening we had a Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast Casserole for dinner… to use up some of the strawberry leftovers we had from Jack’s party…

And then a little ball pit fun before bedtime.

A Flap “Jack” & Pajama Party

Jack’s 1st Birthday was a Flap”Jack” and Pajama Party.

Jacks Banner

We set up a bed in the living room with a bunch of pillows and the boys’ tested it out before people started to arrive…

IMG_8550

Just chillin’…

IMG_8557

They were having fun besides Jeffrey purposely trying to knock Jack off the bed… that must of been his way of celebrating Brother’s Day!

IMG_8568

“Oh my goodness I love this!”

IMG_8572

Resting… I love this picture in his big cloth diaper…

IMG_8582

After putting Jack into his birthday pajamas the guests started to arrive. Our first game was musical pillows…

IMG_8609

A little one started to cry which caused a chain reaction of crying kiddos…

IMG_8616

Then on to some bowling! The kids loved this. We lined the pins  in a row, making it easier for even the babies to knock them down.

IMG_8643

Jeffrey’s turn!

IMG_8665

Then we had a little obstacle course… under the “water” and into a ball pit… Jeffrey really got moving!

IMG_8725

And through a tunnel…

IMG_8707

We had a tent setup outside with a bed and pillows…

IMG_8750

We decorated Jack a Flap”Jack” with nutella, whipped topping and sprinkles… and a candle of course.

IMG_8753

He wasn’t really sure what was going on with all the singing…

IMG_8758

“This tastes pretty good…”

IMG_8775

“What? I’m just eating my birthday treat…”

IMG_8778

Getting all messy…

IMG_8790

I think his “cake” was a success…

IMG_8812

Ball pit fun on the front lawn!

IMG_8796

Then on to some present opening. Isn’t he cute in his birthday jammies?

IMG_8827

He liked the wrapping paper best!

IMG_8828

But then realized what his present was… yay! A truck!

IMG_8834All the boys helping out…

IMG_8838

Aw… I am so lucky!

IMG_8852

And then a finale of ball pit playing… Jack wasn’t too thrilled…

IMG_8871

Happy 1st Birthday sweet Jack Valentine!

IMG_8893

National Taffy Day

Saturday morning I spent shopping for food and supplies for Jack’s birthday party… followed by us going to a birthday party for our friends’ daughter.

And finally to MeMa’s for a BBQ! Uncle Zac grilling up some pork, chicken and polish dogs.

Auntie Na and Jeffrey playing a game of horseshoes…

Daddy and Jack hanging out…

DSC_8575

What happens when I try to get Jack to look at me when I take a picture…

DSC_8577

Food… need I say more?

DSC_8579

My brothers’ friends before they started up a game of tag… they are all 18+ years of age so it was pretty funny to watch them play! They sure were having a good time!

DSC_8580

We put a rug down on the wood deck so Jack could play without the fear of slivers… he was a happy boy!

DSC_8586

Playing together…

DSC_8588

Jack figuring out how to climb the stairs…

DSC_8590

Then after his hard work a treat of gummy turtles for World Turtle Day…

DSC_8593

Aww…

DSC_8598

Yikes!

DSC_8599

It was also National Taffy Day!

DSC_8595

Jeffrey trying a little bit of both…

DSC_8596

And my favorite picture… Jack kept putting a piece of taffy in MeMa’s mouth and then taking it out with his…

National Buy A Musical Instrument Day

I worked Friday so the holiday celebrating was all up to Caleb.

Before I left he started their day listening to Title Tracks for National Title Track Day.

After I left though… he forgot to take pictures…. so sorry for the empty spaces… he’s still the best though!

He did take the boys to buy musical instruments for National Buy A Musical Instrument Day – a harmonica (which sadly didn’t work) and a recorder (which did)…

DSC_8542

Both boys testing it out…

DSC_8550

Then on to some fun flying with Auntie Na…

DSC_8529

Mommy and daddy… yes I know, my legs are as white as my shorts…

DSC_8551

And Jack getting his own turn before bedtime. We all took turns doing this and definitely had a lot of laughs!

DSC_8566

Happy Birthday Jack

On May 21, 2014, my wonderful Jack Valentine was born.

SAM_2535

And now he is ONE!! His first day as a one-year-old… what a sweetie!

DSC_8493

Jack was still fussy and sad because of teething and took an early morning nap. Meanwhile, Jeffrey played in his car…

DSC_8499

It was a little hard to get moving on the grass…

DSC_8500

So he switched to some bubble blowin’…

DSC_8507

After Jack woke up – in the hopes of cheering him up on his birthday – we picked up Auntie Na…

IMG_8425

And went out for lunch at “Jack” in the Box to get him his Munchie Meal…

IMG_8431

He’d barely been eating solid food lately… but the fries were a different story…

DSC_8511

Cramming them all in there…

0521151235b

Yum yum!!

IMG_8440

I can’t believe I have a blue eyed boy!

IMG_8447

And this cutie enjoying some lunch too!

IMG_8463

Then we left for a yummy ice cream dessert. While we waited the boys watched the fish…

0521151320b

Taking some pictures after we ordered…

0521151356c

And here is our Gooey dessert…

IMG_8490

Making progress on this huge Butterfinger Sundae! Uncle Shawn joined us for dessert too…

0521151356

We also were celebrating National Waiter & Waitresses Day since we had a waitress…

IMG_8508

In the end Jack wanted nothing to do with the ice cream but he did enjoy coloring…

0521151402a

And the conversation…

IMG_8511

But he avoided pictures…

IMG_8517

As I did with Jeffrey, for each of his birthdays, I brought Jack to the hospital at the time of his birth! It’s fun because MeMa works at the hospital so we get to visit her.

She brought us up to the Birthing Center to show the nurses Jack and Jeffrey. Funny enough one of the nurses was the woman who helped deliver ME when I was born.

They loved seeing the boys! And Jeffrey scored a donut from MeMa after eating ice cream not too long before!

IMG_8529

After a quick stop at a friend’s house, we headed home.
